Promotion
• If a student is not in attendance at least 90% of the available days, he or she will be considered for retention in their current grade.
• Bennett Academy students must pass at least two of the AIMS sections to be promoted to the next grade. This will assure the students that they will pass the 10th grade AIMS test in high school.
• Students who fail one section of the AIMS test will need to attend summer school or individualized tutoring sessions at the family’s expense, unless teacher fault is documented.
• In order to be promoted to the next grade, students must earn an average of a solid 2 (C) in each and all core subjects. See complete policy for details.

Safe and Healthy Learning Environment

Bennett Academy conducts a week-long school orientation, as well as a No Bullying seminar. We maintain a zero tolerance for any disrespectful treatment of fellow students and teachers. We operate a merit/demerit system. Students practice safety procedures.

Shared Responsibilities
School:
Bennett Academy provides a safe and stimulating learning environment. We are committed to teaching the Arizona Academic Standards and the Core Knowledge Sequence. We retain students earning Ds or Fs. We maintain an open line of communication with the parents.
Parents:
We ask that parents help set academic goals, monitor student homework, have children in proper school uniform, feed them breakfast, send lunch, get them to school on time, and have minimal absences. We ask that parents encourage their children to practice our guiding principles.

Transportation
Parents are responsible for overseeing the transportation of their children to school. Many drive them to school. We provide transportation by bus to students within a certain pick-up area. Other students walk, ride bikes, or take the city bus.

The Ephebi were a select number of Greek adolescents who, in order to attain the rank of citizens, devoted part of their youth to the service of Athens. In exchange for an education in citizenship, gymnastics, and military arts, they were entrusted with guarding the city.
